Lights, camera, action!

The ICONS OF SOUL project has truly become a labour of love for me so it seems appropriate to be launching the new page on Valentine’s Day.

As promised, I’m going to take you behind the scenes on this whole project and first up, we’re going to walk through Arun’s and my recent trip to Nashville where we filmed the sizzle reel for the ICONS OF SOUL documentary.

This is an ambitious project and one that involves a lot of creativity and passion for music. Which is why I was thrilled when we immediately hit it off with videographer/producer Chris St. Croix!  Being a musician himself (perhaps no great surprise as he lives in Nashville), Chris totally gets what we're trying to achieve and we felt a lot of synergy on the set.  We got Chris on the other side of the camera for just a couple of minutes.

Speaking of the set, we filmed the trailer at Felix Cavaliere’s home studio in Nashville.  I’ve got to give a huge shout out to the King of Blue Eyed Soul for opening his home and his life up to us.  Felix has been incredible to work with on all fronts.  First of all, this Hall of Fame inductee is an incredible musician with a killer set of pipes - thankfully you’ll get to appreciate his offerings on a few of the ICONS OF SOUL tracks.  Second, Felix Cavaliere is a complete gentleman and a pleasure to work with. And to top it off, he’s got the best stories - which I promise we’ll share with you over the course of these posts and in the documentary itself.

In my next post, I’ll include a short video clip of the recording session where we laid down harmonies on Soul Love with Felix.  Happy Heart Day my friends! xoxLuke
